Step beyond the gates and rise above the city for an exclusive yoga experience in one of Southampton’s most iconic and historic spaces.
Sunset Session Above the City takes place in the upper chamber of The Bargate - a hidden gem that once served as the city’s guildhall in the 15th century and is rarely open to the public.
Built in the 12th century, The Bargate is one of the best-preserved medieval gateways in England, standing as the historic entrance to Southampton. Once the meeting place for the city’s leaders and the site of grand banquets, the upper chamber now offers a breathtaking and atmospheric space to practice yoga.
Surrounded by centuries-old stone walls, beneath the painted shields and sundial that mark this medieval landmark, we’ll move through an all-levels yoga session as the evening light filters through. With the city stretching beyond the walls, this is a truly elevated practice—movement, breath, and history coming together in a space once used for grand gatherings, legal courts, and even as a police headquarters.
